White Man Return!!!

It been one year and seven month since Daniel Kabubby left Kota Kinabalu. He was here reccentlly dropping by saying "Hi & Helloes" and left his mark once again in KK. Daniel Kabubby is a tattoo artist originally from Rome and had a Tattoo shop called " As tradition Die". He shut it down and began travelling and tattooing everywhere, He does amazing work. i've attached some of his work here.. 1st photo is Franky on Joe's tights and 2nd Photo Bio-Mechanical Actually he was here for the 2nd International Tattoo Convention held in Sibu Sarawak for 3 days from the 30th 0f Jun to 1st of July. I my self did not manage to attend the convention but was happy enough to have meet up with Daniel again. Daniel Kabubby was in in KK for 7 days i think spending most of his time with the "Black Ink Industry" boys...tatooing and partying.. They had fun. For my self..i manage to get this amazing artist to work his magic on me..

Its not finish yet...i still have to do another session of it, when Daniel comes back again next time.. it took him or us 5 hours and 30 minutus until he calls it quits. cause we've been working too much on the skin and its getting stress and when that happens the skin breaks and the tattoo wont be so nice anymore. And it was pretty late...oh sorry its was early morning to be exact. Daniel Kabubby went back home today and promised to be back in December. I am already looking forward to his return.

A brief history of tattoos

The word tattoo is said to has two major derivations- fromthe polynesian word ‘ta’ which means striking something and the tahitian word ‘tatau’ which means ‘to mark something’. the history of tattoo began over 5000 years ago and is as diverse as the people who wear them. tattoos are created by inserting colored materials beneath the skins surface. the first tattoos probably were created by accident. someone had a small wound, and rubbed it with a hand that was dirty with soot and ashes from the fire. once the wound had healed, they saw that a mark stayed permanently. despite the social sciences' growing fascination with tattooing,and the immense popularity of tattoos themselves,the practice has not left much of a historical record.

Bronze age in 1991, a five thousand year old tattooed man ‘ötzi the ice man’ made the headlines of newspapers all over the world when his frozen body was discovered on a mountain between austria and italy. this is the best preserved corpse of that period ever found. the skin bears 57 tattoos: a cross on the inside of the left knee, six straight lines 15 centimeters long above the kidneys and numerous parallel lines on the ankles. the position of the tattoo marks suggests that they were probably applied for therapeutic reasons (treatment of arthritis).

Borneo is one of the few places in the world where traditional tribal tattooing is still practiced today just as it has been for thousands of years. until recently many of the inland tribes had little contact with the outside world. as a result, they have preserved many aspects of their traditional way of life, including tattooing.borneo designs have gone all around the world to form the basis of what the western people call ‘tribal’.

MY humble beginning!

Hi My name is Ben Duncan and I am a Tattoo Artist..( I fell like Ami from Miami Ink..ha ha ) As far as i can remember, drawing has always been an interest of mine, drawing on walls or any surface i can find when I was a little boy. I remember during my primary school, at the end of each year our teacher would ask us, " What would like to be when you grow up?" My first answer would be, "An artist!" I never failed to answer that question, year after year after year. I guest i develop that interest from my family, especially my two elder brothers, whom I love dearly. We always gets good results in arts class, top three at worst. On Our spare time we design and prints Our own t-shits just for fun. As We grow up, interest towards arts faded, as We need to make a living to support our family.My Elder brother turn to music and my other brother works with a Agricultural company. Me?! I turn to Tourism. I'm a Licence Tour Guide by Profession, Its been 10 year ( dam that a long time) and I'm still doing it. But My true passion is Tattooing. It started 4 to 3 years ago when i was exposed to Tattoo by a Swedish friend, and i got my 1st tattoo on My right thigh, it was a picture of a sea dragon, its because i love water, I do a lot of swimming before, and the dragon symbolise strengths.As the years past I tend to get more and more tattoo. Until one day I decided to be a Tattoo Artist. With the help of modern facilities ( internet ) and purchasing my very own tattoo equipments, I began my journey towards tattoing.
